WHY WE SIT

In the months prior to the creation
of this service, my husband and I lost our eighteen-year-old
cat, Boo.
It was old age, I guess. It was as painful an ordeal as that of losing a family
member. I'm sure that most pet owners would agree. We had to be extra loving
and understanding to our six year old mutt, Bailey, who was angry and depressed
after having lost his best friend. We had to get over the guilt of knowing that
our "little guy" had passed away while we were on vacation.

For weeks before our Caribbean vacation, we became desperate as the question of
who would watch over Bailey & Boo became more and more of a reality. We needed someone
who was playful, lovable, responsible, trustworthy, a driver, but most of all someone
who would pamper our pets in the way they had become accustomed to.
Although kennels are often times
necessary, not all pets react positively to that experience.
The idea of leaving our very spoiled and pampered dog,
who has never even been crated, in one, terrified my husband.
As a teenager he did that with his Brandy and after 30 something
years, the sadness in Brandy's eyes haunts him still. After
much thought, and weighing of the few options we had available,
we decided that having someone come to our house was the only
solution. Boo would need someone to come by to feed him, give
him fresh water, clean his litter and, although he was quite
the independent cat, a little rub here and there was always
welcomed in his later years. Having a caregiver at our home,
would keep them together in their own environment and away
from any outside threats. Not having us was traumatic enough.
Our family wasn't conveniently located, and our friends and neighbors, with the
exception of one very kind soul, all work very long hours. We felt guilty over leaving
our only stay-at-home neighbor with the responsibility of two animals for a period of
fifteen days. We were lucky that another friend was available, and after much back-and-forth,
we were able to work out the specifics.

The last thing we expected to
hear during a call home, after one week of our vacation, was
that our Boo-Boo had passed. Those words still ring painfully
in my ear. We lived through desperate moments not knowing
who would care for "our guys" and finally having found good
friends to temporarily fill in our gap, we still couldn't
prevent what we feared most. It was most unfortunate that
they were not nearly prepared for what they had to endure.
In the days that followed, we
laid Boo to rest at The
Hartsdale Pet Cemetery and embarked on a mission to create
a service that would offer other pet owners the peace of mind
we were in search of during a time of great need. We would
create a service that would offers pets the love and respect
they deserve for their unwavering loyalty and their never-ending
love.
Let us help you. Your pet won't resist if you let us assist.
